Winter Fishing at Marabou Ranch

The Elk River is a small band of ice cold water nearly crystallized in time. The great news for anglers: fishing doesn’t have to end. We turned the spotlight on Fishing Guide Pat again. Pat shares with us what it’s like to go ice fishing with Marabou.

Here’s what he had to say:

Winter is upon us and it’s time to fish with the, “short rods”.  Ice fishing is a great break from skiing!  Give your tired legs a break and enjoy a beautiful relaxing scenic day on the ice.  You don’t need any fishing experience, and it is a great social family adventure!  Do it once and it will become an annual trip for the family and your guests.

Ice fishing is another way Marabou makes lasting memories for their owners!  Hook a 20” inch trout with light tackle and a short rod and watch smiles a mile long.  We are permitted on Steamboat and Stagecoach lakes.  Both lakes fish well and we predominantly fish for trout but occasionally you may hook into some large Northern Pike at Stagecoach reservoir.

We use well-equipped rods and reels, sonar to locate fish, comfortable chairs, and rocking tunes!  Trips are approximately 5 to 6 hours long and includes an awesome wild game barbecue lunch.

We do not use fish shanties, so all trips are weather dependent.  Also, we will fillet your catch and you can enjoy the best eating trout you ever had!   This is are 4th year offering this excursion; it has become very popular with our owners.

Please give us 48 hours advance notice and transportation is not included.  Any questions or to book a trip, please call the outfitter’s cabin.
