Pete Wither’s history runs deep in Routt County. His grandfather followed the Gold Rush to Hahn’s Peak in 1888. When the gold ran out, he moved the family mercantile to Steamboat Springs in 1902. Pete was a fixture at the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation for 30 years, most recently as the Ski Patrol Director. He also started the Mountain Bike program for the ski resort, and designed many of the mountain bike trails in use on the mountain today. Pete is an avid outdoorsman, and he has always found time to give back to the community. He was on the City Council for eight years, from 1983 to 1991. He has been President of the Tread of Pioneers Museum, the Rocky Mountain Youth Corp, and recently was the President of the Routt County Riders Bicycle Club, and the City of Steamboat Springs Parks and Recreation Commission. Pete recently received the Leckenby Pioneer Award, which recognizes community and youth involvement by a person with ties to the early Steamboat pioneers. Pete was originally licensed in the 1970’s and has been a full time professional broker with Colorado Group Realty since 1999. Pete is married to Barbi and has two children, Scott and Tiffany, and three beautiful grandchildren.
