Land Map

This overview map is a great way to get the lay of the land at Marabou. As you can see, every site has it’s own benefits and personality. We warmly welcome you to your luxury ranch community.

lot story

Not as grand as Mt. Werner’s ski hill, Emerald Mountain and Howelsen Hill (viewed to the south), are however filled with Olympic history. Located just across the Yampa River from downtown Steamboat, one will still see the historic ski jumps being used today helping train future olympians. With National Ski Association affiliation in 1916, Steamboat Springs began hosting official jump competitions. Many early ski-jump records were set at Howelsen Hill. Credit for founding sport skiing in Colorado goes to Carl Howelsen “The Flying Norseman”. He changed skiing from being merely a mode of transportation to a fun pastime. Building the first ski jump on the hill south of town, he is an iconic hero to the town of Steamboat and as such the town named the ski area after him.

While you may not have an interest in taking up ski jumping in the near future, it’s fun to watch the brave athletes jumping spectacular heights and distances. Perhaps a cross-country ski on the Marabou trails will be more appealing?
